Jaleesia Fobbs earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and English Literature with a specialization in Strategic Communications from the University of Colorado Denver. Her background in storytelling, media, and communication has shaped the thoughtful and creative approach she brings to working with students. Jaleesia enjoys helping students strengthen their confidence in writing and self-expression while encouraging them to think critically and communicate clearly. She especially loves seeing students discover their own voice and grow more comfortable sharing their ideas.
Where Jaleesia Makes an Impact
Jaleesia has built a strong professional background across journalism, branding, and media production. During college, she worked her way from Staff Writer to Editor-in-Chief of The Sentry, the University of Colorado Denver’s student-led newspaper, where she developed leadership and editorial skills in a fast-paced environment. She also interned with Samsung as a Brand Ambassador during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and later worked for a branding company in Colorado Springs. In 2023, Jaleesia joined KRDO13 under ABC as a TV News and Digital Producer, where she advanced from weekend reporting into producing the station’s morning news segment. She also holds a certification in Strategic Communications.
Did You Know?
Outside of work, Jaleesia runs her own Substack blog called Gort’s House, where she publishes original horror short stories. She has been building the project since 2022 and is also currently collaborating with friends on both a zine and a short film. In her free time, Jaleesia enjoys reading, baking, hiking, sketching, exploring museums and libraries, and discovering new music. Her creativity and curiosity carry into nearly everything she does.

Jaleesia’s favorite core value is Roll Up Your Sleeves (and Own It). She believes growth comes from taking accountability, learning from mistakes, and continuing to move forward with purpose. To her, every challenge presents an opportunity to improve and become stronger. This mindset shapes both the way she approaches her work and the way she encourages students to approach their own goals.
