Kelly has 32 years of teaching experience in public schools. She has taught English Language Arts, Theory of Knowledge, and Drama, and has worked with students in on-level classes, Advanced Placement classes, as well as International Baccalaureate courses. She also served as the National Honor Society sponsor and the English Language Arts Department chair. After retiring in June of 2023, Kelly realized how much she missed working with students, and jumped right back into education as an academic coach!
Kelly loves to spend time with her two adult daughters (one of whom is an English Teacher here in Houston), going out to listen to live music with her friends, or reading at home with her dog Zoe and her cat Jenny. She also loves to travel and is always up for a quick weekend road trip, or a longer journey to visit her family in Colorado and upstate New York. Currently, Kelly is saving her pennies for her dream trips to Sedona, Arizona, Victoria, Canada, Spain, Italy, and Argentina!
Roll Up Your Sleeves (and Own It!) is Kelly’s favorite of the Enrichery’s core values. She has a strong work ethic and does not shy away from “hard things.” She believes in ownership and accountability, and is a firm believer that if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing well.
