What Each Member of the Enrichery Team is Taking From Quarantine

When things began to shut down a couple of months ago, there was a common refrain we heard often that we should “find the silver lining.” While it may seem idealistic at best and insensitive at worst, there’s no question that current affairs have brought drastic changes to our day-to-day lives – and those changes can’t all be bad. From gardening to cooking to stretching, here are the habits some of our Enrichery team members have adopted during quarantine and plan to carry into “normal life” – whenever it resumes!

Ashland

Ashland is teaching the Pre ACT/SAT Basics course this summer, where 9th and 10th grade students will learn math, reading, and writing fundamentals that will prepare them to master the ACT and SAT.

  • Watercolors
  • Gardening
  • My newly redecorated home office

Alex

Alex is teaching the Future Lawyers class this summer, where students will learn logic, rhetoric, and the philosophy of law. For the final capstone project, students will write and present both sides of a case.

  • Cutting my own hair
  • Dining out less often
  • Learning to cook

Maria

Maria is teaching the Future Doctors class this summer, where students will learn biology, anatomy, and research skills. For the final capstone project, students will conduct contagious cancer research.

  • Gardening new vegetables & herbs, including different species of peppers, cherry tomatoes, basil, rosemary, and cantaloupe
  • Cooking and baking cakes & macaroons (those are still in progress)
  • Cycling outdoors

Sarah

  • Appreciating down time
  • Calling people on the phone (gasp!)
  • Cooking more often

Chris

Chris is teaching the Pre ACT/SAT Basics course this summer, where 9th and 10th grade students will learn math, reading, and writing fundamentals that will prepare them to master the ACT and SAT.

  • Running outdoors to relax

Donielle

Donielle is teaching the Future Writers class this summer, where students will learn professional and creative writing. For the final capstone project, students will write a screenplay.

  • Being active outdoors
  • Cooking (thankfully, I have several new recipes to add to my collection!)

Chase

Chase is teaching the Future Engineers class this summer, where students will learn the basic principles of engineering and math. For the final capstone project, students will build a bridge.

  • Cooking
  • Taking long walks in the evening (I’ve consistently walked about 60km every week!)

Taylor

  • Making time for friends I don’t see often
  • Family walks

Caroline

  • Eating all of the produce we buy before any of it goes bad! (Major win.)
  • Taking my baby daughter to the park every single day just to eat snacks in the sunshine.

Sarah B.

  • Stretching every day to hopefully be able to do the splits by the end of quarantine!
  • Making my own coffee

Like the rest of the world, every single one of us is eager and excited for the day when talk of COVID-19, masks, and toilet paper shortages is far behind us. Until then, we’ll count these new habits as small wins!

If you’re also looking ahead excitedly toward the future, make sure to check out the Enrichery’s Education for the Future classes! Each class will meet six times over the course of two weeks – online or in person! – and culminate in a final capstone project. Enroll today!
