How to Help the Victims of Hurricane Harvey

We are incredibly thankful that our Enrichery family is safe, but many Houstonians are not. If you’re eager for ways to help – and you don’t own a boat to go rescue people yourself – here are some places to donate that are doing work in the area as you read this.
When it comes to making financial donations, Bob Ottenhoff, president and CEO of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, had this wisdom to impart:”This is not the time to be donating products or even services,” he says. “That’s frequently the urge, and most often that is the wrong thing to do. …With the floods blocking off streets, when warehouses are not available, there’s no place for these products — there’s no place to store anything, there’s no place to distribute anything. And that’s going to be the case for some time.”
Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund
This fund was established by Mayor Sylvester Turner, and it is tax deductible. The fund is housed at The Greater Houston Community Foundation.
The Animal Defense League of Texas
The ADL is providing shelter and food to the animals displaced by the flooding. They are seeking fosters, as well as financial assistance.
Texas Diaper Bank
Many families with babies, seniors, and disabled family members evacuated their homes with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. The Texas Diaper Bank takes donations to provide diapers to anyone in need.
Houston Food Bank
The Houston Food Bank is supplying food, water, and supplies to people affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Austin Pets Alive!
APA has transported over 240 animals to their shelter. It has been bombarded with donated supplies (which is great!) but now they are in desperate need of financial help.
